The documentary provides an insight into the life of Angela Bowen: grown up in Boston during the Jim Crow era, she became a classical ballerina, a legendary dance teacher, a black lesbian feminist activist organizer, a writer and an academic professor. For six decades Bowen has influenced and inspired people, speaking out for the Arts, for Black and Women’s Rights and for LGBT Rights. Candid, compelling, and inspiring, the documentary portrays Bowen’s life with archival footage, musical selections, photographs and interviews.
It is an important documentary for anyone who wants to know more about the complexities of black women’s lives and about the rising of Black Feminism.
