Regan Latimer indaga il potere dei media televisivi nel plasmare il modo in cui ci vediamo e ci raccontiamo. La regista ha sperimentato in prima persona come una rappresentazione ben costruita possa avere un potere trasformativo, capace di modificare non solo il nostro immaginario collettivo, ma anche la percezione di sé.
Animazioni originali e aneddoti personali si intrecciano a interviste ampie e articolate con professionisti dell’industria televisiva, attivistə della comunità LGBTQ+ e appassionatə di serie TV. Vengono presentate conversazioni con attorə, sceneggiatorə, produttorə e commentatorə, tra cui Katherine Barrell (Wynonna Earp, Workin’ Moms), Noelle Carbone (Rookie Blue, Saving Hope), Javier Grillo-Marxuach (The 100, The Witcher), JP Larocque (Sort Of, Jann), Michelle Mama (Canada’s Drag Race), Aaron Martin (Degrassi: The Next Generation, Slasher) e Ali Liebert (Bomb Girls). Il film include inoltre i contributi dello showrunner Michael MacLennan (Queer As Folk, The Fosters), di Jill Golick (presidente della Writers Guild of Canada), di Anne Creighton (presidente di Toronto PFLAG), della psicologa dei media Dr. Aiden Hirshfield e di Megan Townsend, direttrice della ricerca presso GLAAD.

Regan Latimer investigates the power of television media in shaping how we see ourselves and how we tell our own stories. The director has experienced firsthand how a well-crafted representation can have a transformative power, capable of changing not only our collective imagination but also our self-perception.
Original animations and personal anecdotes are interwoven with in-depth interviews with television industry professionals, LGBTQ+ community activists, and TV series fans. The film presents conversations with actors, writers, producers, and commentators, including Katherine Barrell (Wynonna Earp, Workin’ Moms), Noelle Carbone (Rookie Blue, Saving Hope), Javier Grillo-Marxuach (The 100, The Witcher), JP Larocque (Sort Of, Jann), Michelle Mama (Canada’s Drag Race), Aaron Martin (Degrassi: The Next Generation, Slasher), and Ali Liebert (Bomb Girls).
The film also includes contributions from showrunner Michael MacLennan (Queer as Folk, The Fosters), from Jill Golick (president of the Writers Guild of Canada), from Anne Creighton (president of Toronto PFLAG), from media psychologist Aiden Hirshfield, and from Megan Townsend, Director of Research at GLAAD.
